FIXED BRIDGES

A dental bridge is a fixed appliance utilized to replace missing teeth. There are various types of bridges. One of the more popular bridges is porcelain. Porcelain bridges allow patients to subtly transform their smile with a tooth-colored bridge. The bridge is made of two crowns that will be placed over abutment teeth and attached to artificial teeth. Dental bridges are long-lasting and can be maintained with routine dental visits.
A fixed bridge can fix:
  • Spacing issues
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Teeth structure
  • Restore the smile
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture

Fixed Bridge Process

Fixed bridge treatment is typically completed in two or more visits. The dentist will begin the treatment by numbing the teeth to remove a portion of the enamel to place the crown. A mold will then be taken to help create the bridge in our laboratory. A temporary bridge will be placed on the teeth while the customized bridge is being created.
For the second visit, the bridge will be adjusted and placed on the tooth to ensure a comfortable fit. The bridge will be temporarily cemented to the teeth to let the teeth and tissue adjust to the bridge. The dentist may cement the bridge at this appointment or permanently cement the bridge to the teeth at another appointment. Patients can maintain their bridge by having good oral hygiene.
